What Does Representation By Organizations In Lieu Of Autistic People Look Like? It Looks Like A Self-Serving “Autism Epidemic” | Eve Reiland

What does representation by organizations in lieu of Autistic people look like?

It looks like antivaxxers, quackery, cure movement, conversion therapy (ABA), autism myth, autism tragedy, autistic stigma and the worst people who have dehumanized, belittled and silenced Autistic people from leadership and participation in healthcare and other legislation about us. These are the autism experts who speak over Autistics?

Eve Reiland

Below are the organizations that pushed legislation at our expense in 2006. Obviously, no Autistics included. Just a whole lot of parents, the organizations they started and their buddy celebrity influencers instead.

Mind you, these organizations were viciously acting to silence Autistic people at this time and were fully aware of the Autistic community and our fight for human and civil rights – and our complaints against them. Yet, when Autism Speaks, and these other orgs, mention ‘autism community’ they fail to mention it doesn’t include us Autistic people.

These organizations purposefully fail to mention that the Autistic community exists, and that they actively fought many of us from being heard. They never let on that the ‘autism community’ doesn’t include us AUTISTICS , and that the ‘autism community’ was created by non-Autistics who parented or knew an Autistic.

Most of what the world knows about Autistic people is sourced from the ‘autism community’ not the Autistic community.

Autistics were excluded so these organizations could get legislation passed that benefited them, their agenda, bank acocunt and corporations.

ABA is now a $2 Billion a year industry . This is an industry that was created by touting the ‘Autism Epidemic’ the world couldn’t afford. An industry funded by legislation these organizations lobbied to pass while purposefully silencing us. Now those ‘autism epidemic’ numbers with a new spin are called the “Autism Market” and yes, it’s booming.

With the same predictions now being used to calculate the value of the Autism Market, guess who one of the biggest players is in the ABA market?

Yup, Autism Speaks. Self-serving epidemic much?

The organizations, and people that launched the Combating Autism Act, have no business in my family’s and my healthcare. Yet, we can’t escape them. And if you read closely, you’ll see that pseudoscience is being pushed to be funded too. Though, that didn’t go through … but ABA and research did.

The Combating Autism Act of 2006 was supported by the following autism organizations:

Autism One

Autism Society of America

Autism Speaks

Cure Autism Now

Dan Marino Foundation

Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation

First Signs

Generation Rescue

The Help Group

National Autism Association

Organization for Autism Research

S.A.F.E. Inc.

Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center

Talk About Curing Autism (TACA)

The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology

Unlocking Autism

US Autism and Asperger Association

Autistic people have fought the inclusion of ABA in therapy for us since before Autism Speaks, and other non-Autistic-led autism organizations, started lobbying legislation to get it covered by insurances and Medicaid.

ABA is a myth originally sold to parents that it would keep their Autistic child out of an institution. Today, parents are told that with early intervention therapy their child will either be less Autistic or no longer Autistic by elementary school, and can be mainstreamed in typical education classes. ABA is very expensive to pay out of pocket. Essentially, Autism Speaks has justified the big price tag up front will offset the overall burden on resources for an Autistic’s lifetime. The recommendation for this therapy is 40 hours a week for children and toddlers.

The original study that showed the success rate of ABA to be at 50% has never been replicated. In fact, the study of ABA by United States Department of Defense was denounced as a failure. Not just once, but multiple times. Simply stated: ABA doesn’t workIn study after repeated study: ABA (conversion therapy) doesn’t work.

What more recent studies do show: Autistics who experienced ABA therapy are at high risk to develop PTSD and other lifelong trauma-related conditions. Historically, the autism organizations promoting ABA as a cure or solution have silenced Autistic advocates’ opposition. ABA is also known as gay conversion therapy.

The ‘cure’ for Autistics not born yet is the prevention of birth.

The ‘cure’ is a choice to terminate a pregnancy based on ‘autism risk.’ The cure is abortion. This is the same ‘cure’ society has for Down Syndrome.

This is eugenics 2021. Instead of killing Autistics and disabled children in gas chambers or ‘mercy killings’ like in Aktion T4, it’ll happen at the doctor’s office, quietly, one Autistic baby at a time. Different approaches yes, but still eugenics and the extinction of an entire minority group of people.

Fact: You can’t cure Autistics from being Autistic.

Fact: You can’t recover an Autistic from being Autistic.

Fact: You can groom an Autistic to mask and hide their traits. Somewhat. … however, this comes at the expense of the Autistic child, promotes Autistic Burnout (this should not be confused with typical burnout, Autistic Burnout can kill Autistics), and places the Autistic child at high risk for PTSD and other lifelong trauma-related conditions.

[Note: Autism is NOT a disease, but a neurodevelopmental difference and disability.]

Fact: Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism.
