UN Global Focus on Autism

Autism Speaks hosted more than 150 first ladies and dignitaries at a conference, held during the opening of the 63rd UN General Assembly, to discuss the global epidemic of autism. Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, wife to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, served as the event chair. At the event, Autism Speaks unveiled its new Global Autism Public Health Initiative, an international advocacy effort to raise awareness, increase research and improve service delivery. Busiest Walk Weekend of Fall Season Raises Over $1.5 Million

2nd Annual Celebrity Chef Gala Raises over $848,000

The Autism Speaks to Wall Street: 2nd Annual Celebrity Chef Gala was held at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday, October 1, raising over $848,000 in support of Autism Speaks. Read more and view photos and video here

Autism Insurance Bill Introduced in Virginia

Legislation has been prefiled for introduction in Virginia to require insurance coverage for autism spectrum disorders. House Bill 1588 will require Virginia healthcare policies to cover applied behavior analysis (ABA) and other medically necessary, evidence-based treatments for up to $36,000 a year. Chevy Sponsors Family Night at Wrigley Field
