Walk Day is this Saturday!  We thank you for all of your efforts and support and are greatly looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

This guide contains all the information you will need to get ready for the 3rd Annual Central Valley Walk Now for Autism Speaks.  If, after reading this guide, you have questions, please call our walk office at (415)686-2772 or email us at modesto@autismspeaks.org and we will help you as soon as possible!

If you have not yet registered for the Walk, please do so today at www.walknowforautism.org/modesto and save time at registration. You may use your username and password from last year if you walked in 2009.Team Totals

Registration: When you arrive at the Walk, please visit the Registration tent to turn in donations. If you have raised $150 or more, you will receive a ticket to pick up your Walk Now for Autism Speaks t-shirt at the t-shirt booth (while supplies last). If you are a Grand Club member, you will receive your Grand Club goodie bag and commemorative pin at Registration as well.If you are turning in donations on Walk Day, please complete a donation form to turn in with each donation. Donation forms are available on your personal webpage. If you are able to do so, please fill out your donation forms ahead of time to expedite the registration process.



Resource Fair: Visit the Resource Fair to speak with service providers and nonprofit organizations servicing the autism community in Central Valley! Don’t miss the Autism Speaks and Autism Votes informational booth, where you can sign important legislative petitions and get relevant materials about Autism Speaks!

Official Walk Now for Autism Speaks T-shirts:


Official Walk Now for Autism Speaks t-shirts will be distributed on Walk-Day to each registered individual walker who raises $150 or more!

To reduce costs, ensuring that more dollars are directed to the mission of Autism Speaks, t-shirts will be available on walk day only and not mailed to participants who are unable to attend the event.  Autism Speaks will do its best to ensure that those participants who are receiving shirts will receive a shirt in the size of their choice.  However, when this is not possible, another size may be substituted.

Entertainment: Enjoy music, a play area, children’s activities provided by our Resource Fair vendors, face painting, Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys “R” Us and other costumed characters!

Location & Parking: Modesto Junior College – West Campus is located at 2101 Blue Gum Ave Modesto, CA 95358. Free parking is available throughout the campus.

Join us after the Walk at McDonalds’s on Carpenter at Kansas in Modesto for lunch and McDonalds will donate 25% of your bill to Autism Speaks!  Stay tuned to find out more!

Answers to Commonly Asked QuestionsQ: Does everyone have to register?

A: Everyone over the age of 2 should register for the Walk. To save yourself time on walk day, please register online.

Q: How long is the Walk Course?

A: The route is approximately 1 mile long around the campus, with an early cut off for those who need it.

Q: Can I bring my pet to the Walk?

A: Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Many affected children have a fear of animals and even the sweetest pet could negatively affect another participant. Please be sensitive to this issue and leave your pets at home. Only service dogs are permitted at the walk.

Q: Is there a fee to walk, and can I bring friends and family to the walk?

A: There is no fee to attend the walk. The Walk raises money to support autism research, family services, advocacy and awareness. Any donation you can give, no matter how small, makes a huge impact. As a walker, you are encouraged to ask your friends and family to sponsor your walk efforts. Walkers who raise $150 or more before the walk, either online or through donations mailed before the walk or brought to the walk, will earn a Walk t-shirt on Walk Day (while supplies last). Family and friends are welcome to join the walk!

Q: With the Walk happening this Saturday, should I mail my donation to the office or bring them on Walk Day?

A: Since the Walk is a few days away, we ask that you bring all donations with you to the Walk. All donations turned in on Walk Day will show credited to your fundraising website within 10 business days.

Q: Can I turn in donations after the Walk?

A: Absolutely! Donations may be mailed to our Walk office year-round. Donations received by December 31st will count toward your 2010 team/individual walker totals. To mail donations, please complete a donation form and mail to:
