It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we founded Autism Speaks in honor of our grandson Christian. We would like to thank the autism community for all your support as we have grown. Together we will work even harder to find the answers to the many questions surrounding this complex disorder which now affects 1 in 110 children/1 in 70 boys.

Autism Speaks Marks Five Year Anniversary

Autism Speaks marks the beginning of its fifth anniversary year.

Since its founding in 2005, it has grown into the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

5|25: Celebrating Five Years of Autism Science

Since our inception five years ago, there have been many significant scientific advances. For the past 25 days, we have been revisiting these stories of scientific progress and updating them with details about what has happened since.

Sumner Redstone Donates $1 Million to Autism Speaks

Sumner Redstone, Chairman and Founder of Viacom Inc. and CBS Corporation and Chairman and CEO of National Amusements Inc., has kicked off Autism Speaks fifth anniversary year in style with a $1 million donation. His intent is to inspire others to support the organization and its mission to bring hope to individuals and families coping with autism.

Toys”R”Us Launches 2010 Fundraising Campaign

Toys”R”Us, U.S. has launched its fundraising campaign to benefit Autism Speaks, which will continue through Friday, April 30. Monetary donations will be collected at all Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us stores and online at Toysrus.com/AutismSpeaks.

 The “Ten Toys That Speak To Autism” and a full list of Safe Play Tips can be found on the site, as well as a blog entitled “Speaking About Autism.”

Walk Now for Autism Speaks Spring Season Kicks Off

Scenic Key Biscayne played host to the 10th annual Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks, beginning the spring season with a bang! More than 18,000 people participated, raising nearly $570,000.
