“The effectiveness of applied behavioral techniques for autism remains unproven. Year after year" | SLP Neurodiversity Collective

12/15/19 was the promised release date at the #ASHA19 Town Hall, but here we are, still awaiting the BCS-ASD Committee’s release of CCC-SLP list of “competencies.” These are the competencies the BCBA-heavy committee will require in order for CCC-SLPs to become an “Autism Certified Specialist.” #SLPs #speechlanguagepathologists #SLPeeps

In the meantime, let’s remember that:
“The Department of Defense reported to Congress on Oct 25, 2019 about Comprehensive Autism Care that after 1 year of ABA treatment 76% of those with autism had no change in symptoms and 9% had worsened by more than 1 standard deviation. These results reaffirm the statement by Navy Capt. Edward Simmer, the Chief Clinical Officer of the Tricare Health Plan, in November 2018 that “The effectiveness of applied behavioral techniques for autism remains unproven. Year after year, the data says the same thing.”
