ASAN November Update

Dear friends,

As we near the end of a busy and productive year, we want to take a moment to highlight how thankful we are to you—because all of our achievements are only possible thanks to your generous support. Earlier this week, we celebrated #GivingTuesday, when people across the country show their generosity and support for good causes. Here are some of the reasons people gave for supporting ASAN:

  • Because people deserve to speak for themselves!
  • Because I believe in self-determination
  • Because neurodiversity is awesome

Our annual gala also took place this month in the nation’s capital, where we celebrated the power of our community to make meaningful change for autistic people. You can watch remarks made at the gala—including our keynote, award ceremony, and a speech by our Executive Director—here

Even while we celebrate, ASAN isn’t slowing down our advocacy. This month, we’ve been advocating to pass the Keeping All Students Safe Act, which you can read abouthere. We’ve also published the comments we submitted in opposition to a proposed rule concerning the detention of migrant children, which you can read here

Finally, we want to take a moment to remind you that if you need to apply for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, now is the time! Open Enrollment is happening now, and this year’s enrollment period is short – it ends in just 2 weeks. Read more about Open Enrollment and apply here

Best wishes,

Zoe Gross
Director of Operations
Autistic Self Advocacy Network

P.S. – We’ve added lots of new holiday-themed designs to our official shop. These designs will only be available for a limited time, so make sure you check them out before they’re gone!
