6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Join us for our annual celebration and fundraising event at The Hamilton in Washington, DC. Dinner and dessert will be served and a reception will precede dinner. Proceeds will support our advocacy work and programs for the coming year, and allow us to continue working to empower disabled people across the country.
We’re happy to announce Vivian Ly as one of two recipients of our award for Service to the Self-Advocacy Movement!
Vivian is the Director of Autistics United Canada (AU Canada). Founded last year with other autistic activists, AU Canada is a multi-chapter organization that aims to improve the lives of Autistic people through self-advocacy in what is colonially known as Canada. Recently, AU Canada has campaigned on policies related to immigration, healthcare and assisted suicide, as well as new national and provincial accessibility legislation.
Along with hosting workshops and community events, Vivian has also spoken about pride in Autistic language and expression in Love Intersections’ recent 6×6 film series. Vivian also focuses on community building through collective care groups by helping to run the Vancouver Queer Spoon Share. While studying Neuroscience at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vivian is the founding President of the SFU Autistics United Club and also an alum of ASAN’s Autism Campus Inclusion (ACI) program.
