Don’t Touch – DeveReaux’s Newfound Words

Don’t touch it.

Leave it, let it alone

You can watch, but only for so long

It comes and goes

But if you wonder why I hide it,

your averted eyes are answers enough

I know you find it repulsive, and sometimes I do too

But what do you want me to do

But what do you want me to do

Suffocate under the weight of my own becoming?

Reaching inside my throat

to reject the pain swelling within my spine would have been done already

if it were feasible

Subject to the curse of my own flesh

I take what It gives, and give so that it may not take by force

drowning me in a sea

of bitter agony and resistance

to the human connection

that I need

to endure it from the start
