We Are Broken – Jake Allen Sharp

We are broken, life shattered

The only thing that matters

Is feeling that we are whole again

Lying broken on the table

You crush them to be able

For a moment to feel right again

The emptiness within you

You feed as it consumes you

Pretend that everything is okay

The pain you could forget

If there was enough Percocet

Evidence you throw it all away

We are broken, life shattered

The only thing that matters

Is feeling like we are whole again

I lie in a way that is unspoken

I chase my earthly tokens

Like a status symbol I can win

I spend money for to fill the space

With the lust I think will replace

The true love that I need

So scared to let my weakness show

I isolate myself so no one knows

And in solitude I bleed

We are broken, life is shattered

Everything that has mattered

Disappear into the night again

Strip away the layers I pile on

Innocence has long since gone

Pretend that life is whole again
