I Must – DeveReaux’s Newfound Words

I’m not to be mistaken
For your backrest
Not your carry-all, not your crutch
Not your lifeboat, not your Hail Mary
Fuck your narcissistic necessities
Fuck your alcoholic amenities
I’ve said goodbye to your passive aggressive
I’ve said goodbye to your aggressive passions
Making peace with my makers
I’ve made your home into itty bitty pieces
Making peace with my makers
I’ve made our home into two pieces
One for the heart of mine that was fooled
The other for the heart that was not
And together I threw them into the flame
Together, I watched the glitter and gold melt
Together, I put out the fire with the tears
And held the ashes in my hands
Held them close to my face
You were beautiful, so beautiful
But you made me ugly
And now I must let you go
