SB 1045: Expanding Conservatorships
STATUS: SB 1045 WAS REFERRED TO THE ASSEMBLY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE. HEARING DATE TO BE DETERMINED.
This bill would establish a pilot program in San Francisco and Los Angeles Counties, creating a procedure for the appointment of a conservator for a person who is chronically homeless and incapable of caring for their own health and well-being due to serious mental illness and substance use disorder, as evidenced by high-frequency emergency department use, high-frequency jail detention, or frequent placement under a 72-hour involuntary hold.
