“Sometimes just getting out of bed is a victory”
Reilly is 7, and on the autistic spectrum. While he is non-verbal, he makes his feelings clear. And when there’s an unexpected knock at the door and an unfamiliar visitor, the routine of getting ready for school is well and truly disturbed. Reilly’s mum deals with the situation as best she can, but it’s not going to take a whole lot to push her over the edge.
A gritty Northern drama set in the present day, The Life of Reilly looks at autism and its impact on families.
Based on actual events, The Life of Reilly strikes a chord as it follows one woman’s journey with her autistic son.
Identifiable characters and real life situations will be familiar to many families whilst informing and educating others about the realities of autism.
Screenplay by Dr John Hickman, based on a story by Alison Stanley. Filmed by ACT 2 CAM
