LETTER | BLUE SKY NEEDS BIG CHANGES, BY MARIO MANGANIELLO

blueskymain

lettertoeditorI started going to Blue Sky Wellness Center in 2O13. I had been suffering deep depression and anxiety. At the time it helped me tremendously. I got back on my feet and started volunteering.

I loved the people that went there and still keep in touch with some. I noticed a change when a certain director took over. Confidentiality that was preached at the center was breached.

I also noticed several fellow volunteers had been “hired”.  I say it like that because they were told they had the job but they never got paid. They put them on the board as staff had them teach classes as staff but they were never paid.

Now at a center you are going for your mental health and to get stable what can be worse than being so called hired but never paid? That messes with someone and makes them very upset. I also noticed favoritism when it came to hiring.

Recently they have cut meals showers and laundry. People who go there need these things. Many of them are homeless, hungry and have no access to these kind of things.

Blue Sky needs big changes or I see it closing very soon.

Signed,

Mario Manganiello
